Analaog cable boxes can be set into a full test mode. With the available test boxes :lolsign: etc etc.

I know that digital cable is alot harder to put into full test mode due to the frequency/bandwidth that it uses. I have been waiting years for something to come out and something finally has. But for some reason it seems ass-backwards..and to simple to even work.

Basically, It is a inline filter. What the filter does it filters out a anything below a certain frequency.

What this allows you to do is order movie channels or PPV's with the touch of your remote. This information is conatined in a certain frequency so the filter allows this to pass thru.. But what gets filtered is the digital boxes ID and billing information stored on it. So the company will not get any billing info and not know you are putting the box into test modes.

It sounds too wacky to be true.

It has taken them 5 years to crack digital cable...and This is what they have finally come up with.. a simple frequency filter.. HOw silly is that.

What are your thoughts.

it sounds reasonable.
analog cable used the same type of thing aloooong time ago. I remember when I lived in AZ all I did was put a filter on my line and got HBO.... in fact that is still kinda what they do today. the three base pay channels (hbo, cinemax and showtime) can all be had over basic cable without a box. All the do is come out and pull a filter of the line ( or put one on...).

If it is as simple as that and someone tests it, let me know so I can switch to digital. I have not yet already... :lolsign:

I can get test box's They will put your analog box into full test mode.

But that is old school.

All the good channels have moved to digital.

Chrys.. on the cable end you will still recieve a digital and analog signal.

All you need is a box to decode the analog or digital signal.

We have an HDTV STB for the digital cable and analog STB for the basic cable.

I beleive analog transmits on channels 1-125
and digital transmits on channels 130 and up.

well... not that I really want to post this.... ;)
but I have regular analog cable thru comcast. when they redid the apt complexs wiring to get ready for digital, they never filtered/unfiltered (whatever) my line. I get HBO, showtime and skinamax.... all for the price of basic :D
that is why I dont want to switch to digital cuz then I will have to pay for those (unless the above trick works...).
