3800 S&S Headers?

I was looking around on the net for headers and came accross the S&S headers. are these headers any good? or should i hold out and save up some more $$ for the TOGS or SLP's? the S&S ones arent very expensive, but then again you get what you pay for. anyone have any experience with these? thanks!

I own a set and I love them.
You will get a 1000 opinions on the whole header issue. here is mine: TOGs are overrated.
I have YET to see ANY definative data that says one brand is better than the other.
Some say to go with the TOGs if you plan to seriously mod (sub 12`s). If you want to follow that philosophy, then go with the S&S and save the extra $$ for DHP or something.

i agree. I have them, and love em. You won't regret it, unless you are shooting for 11's, then just get the togs.

I was gonna get the S&S headers at first, but then I thought I would just go all out and get the TOG's. SLP was never an option, I have read to much crap about them. S&S will work awesomely.

Does anyone know if the SS pieces will work with an RT downpipe? I'm looking for options to the ported manifolds.

I'm pretty sure you don't need a downpipe with headers..I know you dont for TOGs, but I will tell you in a week or so.

I ordered mine yesterday...$449+ ~$18 shipping.

I have a question. I having Jim do a 3" DP for me this weekend, now when i get these headers should it just bolt up to the custom DP. What do i have to do? Take the DP out when i get the headers and have it welded? Im lost

If I were you, I wuld wait till you get the headers to have jim do the welding. You will no longer need a downpipe since that is part of the headers. Jim will take your existing flex with flange, cut it off the downpipe then weld that to your cat so it can be bolted to the headers. If you have him do a downpipe now you will end up throwing $$ out the window....

hy chrys, what did you do with the o2 sensor? leave it in the crossover? or did you relocate it down lower?

I had Jim relocate it just after the collector where the 2 tubes (crossover and rear header) meet.

The headers are $500, and with the 10% discount, they were $450...so yes, the discount worked.
