Had the opportunity recently to visit California with friends and we took the time to visit Angeles Crest Hwy in California. Angels crest hwy for those who don’t know about it is a 66 mile road located north of LA with the starting point in a town called La Canada.
This road trip was pretty cool to do, road it a two lane road mixed speed limits from 25mph to 45mph in some areas. Depending on your direction you are heading if heading up the mountain road Guard rails are pretty much non existent in most areas just a man made curb of some sort at certain parts of the road, when heading down the mountain is your guard rail.
We were only able to drive just under half of the distance of the 66 miles due to road closure where a sink hole has closed the last section of the road. It was a very scenic route one would say, we started at sea level where the landscape was mostly dry, not much plant life besides catus and few other plants , as we worked our way up the mountain we ended up over 5000ft above sea level where snow was on the mountain sides and the vegetation turned into pine trees, red woods and evergreen trees. They even have ski area’s where lifts are just off the road.
Here are some pics and videos.
