My fridge/freezer sucks. Anyone know anything about them?

Bought a scratch/dent fridge/freezer last year from lowes for the garage. The fridge has adjustment for temp but the freezer does not. Regardless the freezer sucks. It's not over crowed, not much in there and it can't even keep ice cream cold. I do get some ice built up around the door seal from time to time but not lately. The garage has been around 52-56* lately.
What else can I do/check to make sure the freezer keeps the shit frozen?

A filled freezer will hold temp better than an empty one. Odd there’s zero adjustment for it. Can you feel any air leaks around the seal? What about dust/dirt buildup underneath and in back?

Exactly. In fact its almost recommended you keep freezers more full. In case of a power outage it will keep the freezer frozen longer.

Unplug and vacuum the back and underneath. De-ice it if you have ice build up. Plug back in, return to normal temp. and toss a thermometer in it to see where you are. Actually, might as well toss the thermometer in first so you have temps to compare.

Basic jist of it is refrigerators in garages don't like to work right so crank the fridge up to 11 and see if the freezer works better.

I have a fridge out on my Florida lanai. No issues as long as I keep it clean, de-iced and make sure the door is sealed. It's 90* every day so that's a hard environment.

It doesn't keep the temps cold enough to keep meat or veggies in it but it's good for soda, water and beer. I could turn it colder but the electricity cost would be astronomical.
