i mentioned that because that old straight six motor would heat up to it's running temp of 220* in about 46 seconds and be pumping out air hot enough to melt your face.

Old ass Vulva with 285k started right up, I'm curious if it'll do the same on Wednesday. I think it could use a new starter but replacing the battery and battery cables last year seem to have rectified a lot of the bitter cold start issues it had.

Took the truck anyway.

No more DEF problems yet.

The passat had a range of like 700 miles per tank, so it wasn't a big deal

Miss that car, but I don't miss shutting it off and hearing the fan keep going because it was in the middle of a regen. Every time that happened I got angry

Should have been able to initiate regens yourself, and had a "DPF status" gauge or something, but I get that most VW owners are too stupid to understand the concept. At a minimum it should have told you when it was in the middle of a regen

I got a monitor to see when they're upcoming or active, but I could tell before by the burning smell when I got out or by my mileage indicator going full retard. So far (almost 10k miles) I haven't gotten a "keep driving or else" message, but I'm surprised how often diesel engines regen. I didn't know it was this often....
