I look for sources that have multiple, recently updated sites saying to use them. Usually, they work, not always.

Kodi has been failing me lately. Is this the issue with everyone else? Nothing works?

It's been fine for me but I have had the best luck downloading the add ons individually instead of doing one of those rollup packages that seems to become unstable after a few months

I would be looking for like some updated online list of sources based on availability. Basically the website would validate the media is online or mark it down.

movies, by year, freezes there and just spins before returning results.

I didn't spend a lot of time other than going through plug ins then finding out I needed to put on covenant, did that, then that didn't work and bailed.

Covenant has been working fine here too. Try deleting it and then readding maybe.

As long as you installed it form the Colossal Repository, I wouldn't think so.

Try other options and see if they work. I've never tried by year. I typically either search or go to new movies.

When I don't know what I want to see, I look at "People Watching" to get an idea of what's popular.
