hmm. think I'd rather have inboards. Swim platform is useable then, two less motors, only a prop and shaft hanging out under the boat. but, I can see the appeal. Lots more inside boat space too

Outboards are nice in salt lake after environments for replacement purposes. For freshwater, I like the clean lines of an inboard/sterndrive.

i think we're seeing a lot more outboards lately, even freshwater, because of their endless power options & combos, ease of maintenance, ease of replacement, fantastic efficiency, and great power.

seems only downsides are aesthetics, and not having a "real v8 growl"

Hard to beat the maintenance of a small block or big block Chevy. It's just getting at stuff in a small bilge is a pain. Everything is out in the open on a outboard obviously.

and not to mention, i think modern outboards have beat i/o's reliability-wise i'd say. it's insane what they can take and how infrequently they need service.

and pod drives FTW at that point too. it's got to be hard AF to dock that thing with the props all the way at the ass end. the center of rotation is so far back. even I/O would be horrible. inboards at least have the props under the boat
