taking axles out and...

I was swapping axles in that notch I recently bought to make it 5lug, the bolt that holds the carrier pin broke and half of it is sitting inside there, any suggestions how to get it out??

Oh man...I remember doing this job once...Ill tell you right not, it sucks!!

What I did was drilled a hold right down the center of the bolt and then used a EZ-out to back it out...

yeah we did this on my foxbody..it was a PITA!

I think I have two extra c-clips somewhere if you want them

When or if your drilling it make sure to keep the drill perfectly straight.. If its crooked the drill bit is gonna be spinning against the threads and then the bolt really wont come out.

how small is the bolt?

if it is big enough get a left handed drill and tap and back it out?

I will look @ work for left handed drill and tap

oh shit now I remember hahaha I was backing out of my driveway and it felt like I was dragging something. So I get out into the street and the whole fucking tire is exposed, the c clip had broken and the axle was sliding out! lol

Izzy i would try to tap it like I said earlier. can't hurt. if no then drill but hit it with a center punch first to get it started straight

allright I tried the magnet... no luck, I tried drilling it out and no luck either, whats the farthest I could drive with no fluid in the diff.?? I have a shop about 5 miles away that I could drive it to and have it fixed, would it be allright?

I didnt think so but I thought maybe cause the gear oil is so thick that it may still lubricate

thats what I was trying to do but I was trying not to fuck up the threads and I wasnt doin anything. its in a very odd place and there isno room to do it

Well a couple of dremel bits and 3 hours later I got that son of a bitch out, I had to grind the pin all the way into where the bolt is and then I backed out that way!

This was a ROYAL pain in the ass and it was cold as hell, thanks for all the helpful info everyone
