gunk in the intake manifold... problem or nothing major ??

I started pulling the motor out of the cobra today, found another coolant puddle (god were these leaks pissing me off), but when I pulled off the upper intake manifold theres gunk in some of the runners, but the middle 3 are immaculate.... Any particular reason for this ?!?!?

this are probably the ones some coolant was leaking into. pretty much steam cleaned them

Have you recently sprayed carb/throttle body cleaning into the throttle body? If so, that could be why the center ones are clean. The incoming air is directed more towards those middle runners.

The gunk/oil residue is normal. Especially for a older car, you can help prevent that when you put the engine back together by putting breathers on the valve covers and capping off the fittings on the manifold.

Never sprayed anything into the throttle body..... Not a big deal, just wondering if its something I should look deeper into.....

Do I just plug the PVC stuff off if I put a breather on each side of the valve covers, or still have the PVC hooked up ???

So can I just get the tall ford motorsports ones, and the put the little K&N push-in breather caps on them and call it done ??? Looks like the easiest option to me.... plus my current valve covers were starting to look gross.
