The 93-98 Mark VIII. has the 4.6 DOHC 4v motors, correct? Someone said that the 93-94 are actually cobra blocks? Is this true? I'm asking b/c I'm thinking of finding a wrecked one for my 86gt mod motored freak project.

They share the Teksid aluminum blocks that the 96-98 Cobra's used to have.

93-98 lincoln mark 8's have the same cobra engine as the 96-97 cobra except you still need to get a forged steel crank vs the cast crank mark 8's have and the mark 8 intake is different than the cobra one...Eddie

To add to what Eddie said, the heads are also the same as the 96-98 cobras w/ the exception of the cam profiles being different.

I figured cam grinds and cranks would be different to explain the horsepower loss from 305 to 285hp. It would still be a great starting point for the mod motor fox project. Thanks for the info guys!!!!! Keep it rolling in...

All year mark VIIIs have Teksid blocks.Rods and pistons were same as 96-98 cobras.Exhaust cams are same as cobra,intake cams are little bit different than cobras, it doesn't make much difference
93-95 regular style valve springs
96-98 Beehive valve springs same as 96-98 cobras.
93-96 intake manifold had t-body placed in the back of the engine
97-98 intake manifold has t-body placed in same spot as 99-01 cobras -blower friendly .
97-98 marks have COPs like 99+ cobras.

found a wrecked MArk VIII at a junk yard. Has the 4.6 motor and wiring harnasses are intact. Told the guy what I needed, he repleyed $700, we'll take it out. I would like to remove the harnasses myself to ensure none of it gets cut. :biggthump
