95% of vette owners are dorks?

seriously. tonight drving home, got caught up behind a c5... convert and a cts-v... cts v had exhaust and sounded deaaaaaaaaaad nasty... we pulled up to a light on 120... cts revs it like 4-6 times to the c5, with no result. light turns green... c5 goes like 1/4 throttle and gives a lil more then lets off... just as cts is gettin on it. and c5 does nothing more.

seriously most vettes (in no matter what car i pull up next to them in), are just dorks.

whats the dealio. it sucks, cuz there are plenty of real cool vette owners out there, that will actually drive the car hard.... and then many more that arent cool.

Every car has their share of assholes. Normally, I see vette owners as either old and dont know any better, young and trying to compensate, the ones that think they are better then everyone else. Name it, and Ive seen it. However, as stated earlier this post. Every car owner has the same drivers.

You'll have to factor in the people that can actually afford new corvettes. Most of them are 50+ yrs old and have always wanted one because they were cool when they were kids. Take my dad as an example (though he doesn't own a corvette its around the same principle). Years of driving two minivans, a late 70s LTD, two PT cruisers, 80s Riviera has not been great training for a highly capable 300C (compared to what he drove before). Not to mention how much more capable a corvette is.

Bottom line: They may go a little faster than normal people, but the habits of 40years of driving slowly do not fade easily.

Exactly. 95% of corvette owners have them becasue its a 'status symbol' not to go fast.
driving a car hard != stoplight races
i concur.

Every car owner has the same drivers.

Coming from someone who works at a corvette specialist sales/body/service facility, MOST Corvette owners are not the same as people who drive most other vehicles. They are quite similar to Harley owners though. As was stated, it's more of a status symbol to alot of them and that's all they care about. Not to mention, 45+ year old white collar business men are generally not the type to do anything extreme.

I think harley owners are bigger assholes then vette owners. Their 45+ year old engine technology cant match a new Honda V-twin, but they surely do think so. :s00ls:

I can agree... most harley owners... MOST... when they purchased a harley, also received a badass card. which sucks cuz there are so many legit harley riders out there, the people who ride their harleys more than they drive a car.... not the people that take their harleys to the local starbucks or oberweis ice cream.

i dont know what to say to that

yea exactly... thats why i said like 90-95% are lame... the other 5-10% are kickass car guys that i can really appreciate... which sucks cuz that majority of vette owners ruin it for the cool owners

My truck is near as fast as a stock Vette so let me add something here that hasn't been mentioned. Twelve seconds at WOT will put you squarely in triple digits. At that speed on the roadways all it takes is one mom backing out of the driveway, one blue hair pulling out into traffic, a dog running out into the street or a pot hole, a puddle of transmission on the road, flat tire, blown heater hose, a cop or any number of anything that can cause a car to swerve, slid or skid into an accident that could cost you your car, house, the use of your limbs, your life, the life othe mom backing out of her driveway, the blue hair going to church, etc., etc., etc., blah, blah, blah...

The point is, those speeds are a lot different to those who can see beyond the now. I have nothing to prove to some punk ass kid in the Grand Prix GT their mom and dad bought them for their 16th birthday or some crap-flinger with a flying F-body they bought and sooped up with the money they saved from living at home until they were 25. When you're older and have the money to buy those cars, you have a Hell of a lot more to loose than the car itself.

However, I will agree to an extent with the attitude of some of the Vette owners to those who have cars they consider "lower" than theirs. I've seen and spoke with some real ass-bags who think their Lingenfelter Vette carries so much more power and class than a nice sub-10 second Fox body (or F-body) that the owner built themselves.

...and don't even get me started on those, "I own a Harley so I'm cool and everyone want's to be me" people...fucking rubies! (...a consider them white-collar organ donors!)

Do you want to get some coffee sometime? That is if you aren't doing anything. I can totally see a nice conversation coming to fruition. :bowrofl:

I just drove around a C6 for the weekend and got a temporary glimpse into Vette ownership . I'm not a newb to Vettes, however, as my pops has had a 1964 longer than I've been around, and I'm a Vette fan for sure.

Just about every Vette owner I encountered this weekend greeted me with the standard Corvette wave that's been around since the `70s. An older guy (60-plus years old) and his wife were cruising next to me on the Elgin O'Hare and I looked over, gave them a wave and they both smiled and waved back. I go about my business and then I hear "bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" as the geezer and his wife go shooting past me balls-to-the-wall, and keep going, for sure past 100. Awesome.

sir, you couldnt have said it any better! i would like to see a counter-point from someone who thinks street racing is "cool."

I'm so sick of the typical harley owner who still isnt over revving their bike at every chance they get. whats the point of running 1st gear to umpteen rpms when your bike is sooo slow...
