So I've been busy workin on all kinds of different cars the past couple of months. Well now it's time to get back at building my own car. As some of you know, I thought I had to sell my Trans Am. Wellllll Now I have this.

I've worked on this car before. The car was painted about a year ago but never seen another engine. It did come with the TH350 and 4.10 gears that I installed about 3 years ago. I'm looking for an engine. I don't want to build one for it cause I know I can buy somebody elses for a lot cheaper. The trans and rear may also have to go. I'm wanting to look for something that is rare in this old of a camaro. Like an LS1. People are doing it so I know it can be done. I'm also looking into other engines like a V10. Any suggestions? It don't look like much now but in a couple of weeks it's gonna look :jg:

I've been working on farm equipement all week but late at night I've been on the Camaro. Almost got the body back together. I did find an engine in New Hampshire. It's not really crazy different but it will work. It is a 5.3 from an 02 Chevy Truck. I don't plan on doing anything to the engine because I want to get it in the car and running before I mess with it anymore. I'd love to turbo this bitch. And yes I'm keeping the truck intake!! I've got a big hood. I've got a lot done but you can't really tell it in the pics. I had to put the doors back together, been busy with little stuff. Ordered a lot of little parts. Hopefully the pics I put up will show a little more progress.

Started working on the engine. I started calling this engine Darth Vader. The engine cover makes it look ok.

Taking the cover off makes it look like Vader when he took his mask off.

Removed the fan and the A/C compressor.

Got the engine cleaned up a little. Painted a few things. Bolted on the LS1 motor mounts. And now I'm looking for an LS1 oil pan and pickup tube. And something tells me I'm gonna have a hood issue.

Depending on the mounts you use, the powersteering pulley hits the steering box. I've got the part number of a smaller pulley if you need it.

Oh damn I wondered if that was gonna be an issue. My mounts from hawks third gen should be here sometime this week so I will get the engine in and will definately check on the pulley. It would be easier and cheaper to swap pulleys than swap over to the LS1 accessories.

Nice, love that body style. If you need parts for the interior there is a similar car for sale in Batavia at a local car dealership. If you want there number send me a pm.

I'm actually starting a new job at a salvage yard on Monday that deals mostly with Camaros, Trans Ams, Corvettes, and Vipers. It shouldn't be a problem finding the rest of the parts. Just gotta find the time to get it together. The wiring is going to be the biggest issue.
