short block build out

I wanna get a forged bottom end in my 5.7, prolly a stroker set up. Am toying with the idea of getting a freshined block and stroker kit.

I have never put a short bolck togeather before. I know the pros get paid good cash to do this because they do it right but am wondering if it is beyone the ability of the average knuckle buster. Did my own heads and cam (s), verter yadda yadda but have to admit the thought of a bottom end build is intimidating...

Whatcha think, any pointers or advice...

Honestly, just get one built. It's really going to suck when something fucks up and you foot the bill. After the cost of buying all the tools you need to get it together, you probably will break even anyways.

Im not sure if you had anyone in mind already, but check out ERL. They are one of THE top LSX engine builders, powering some of the fastest LSX cars around. I can imagine their record with the Hemi is just as stout.
