PCM question

I know I seen a spot somewhere that said tuning but I couldnt find it so if this is in wrong spot sorry... I was cleaning up the garage and founs a bunch of old GP parts. One was my stock PCM. I remember hearing that you have to do something special before you can modify it. Does anyone know what I would have to do??

Huh? Mod it for what? Don't you already have a PCM with a tune you've been working on in your car already?


You plug it in, do a case learn then tune

Yeah I have one but was wondering if I wanted to hook it up and change thing I will not rune the tune Ron made me. I was just thinking ahead..

The tune will still be there. You'd just have to do a case learn when you swap.

Why do you want to do this? You can just upload your current tune and save it. Then you can put what ever tune you want on it. Stock, someone elses, your own etc. It's just a file

Keeping an extra just in case you brick one while tuning isnt a bad idea. Id hang onto it.

Im going to. I just remember hearing you have to do something special to the stock pcm to ( Unlock ) it so that you can tune it. Ill do the case learn.. I plan to keep it. Figured I might as well use it . It has been laying around in garage for 6 years!!

It's actually vendor PCM's that need to be unlocked. The stock pcm works like a charm every time for me. I think with a DHP there's even less issues with unlocking stuff.
