In the past week like 4 people I know have been pulled over for Scotts Law. just thought I would give out a little heads up and info

Scott's Law, 625 ILCS 5/11-907(c),

mandates that upon approaching a stationary authorized emergency vehicle, when the authorized emergency vehicle is giving a signal by displaying alternately flashing red, red and white, blue, or red and blue lights or amber or yellow warning lights, a person who drives an
approaching vehicle shall:
• proceed with due caution, yield the right-of-way by making a lane change into a lane not adjacent to that of the authorized
emergency vehicle, if possible with due regard to safety and traffic conditions, if on a highway having at least 4 lanes with not
less than 2 lanes proceeding in the same direction as the approaching vehicle.
• proceed with due caution, reduce the speed of the vehicle, maintain a safe speed for road conditions, if changing lanes would be impossible or unsafe.

Always did this, and it really bothers me when people do not. I do it for all vehicles, emergency or not, just a lot scarier when cars are whizzing by on the highway at 60+ mph right next to you, that buffer helps.

just came back riding with my buddy on a roadtrip to an event in ohio

going thru indiana i remembered thats where it was before IL and a few miles down the road, sure enough, cop pulled someone over and a truck that had tons of room just didnt get over.... sure enough, about another mile down the road a seperate cop probably got a call and pulled him over

I do this whenever possible, even if it is someone changing a flat. I'd want others to do it for me because you hear too many stories on the news about people getting hurt/killed because someone wasn't paying attention and s/he plowed into someone.

Yeah, hasnt it been out for a few years?... I know the staties here like to pull that stunt. When one makes a traffic stop, another will come and park behind the other trooper and wait for someone to drive by w/o moving over.

They are pretty hardcore about this lately. A girl i know just got pulled over for the same thing last week.

yea its been on the books since like 02, but they are cracking down on the assholes that don't obey.

I think they should crack down on the assholes in the left lane that don't do the speed limit. Or just drive next to the car in the other lane and block traffic. I also think semi's should be prohibited from using any lane but the right lane. It may cut down on traffic in the mornings.

Peole are really bright. Thats the problem with human being we don't really have any predators. That lady would have been eaten a long time ago because she is not the fittest to survive.
