Default 77 Toyota Celica GT - Regular Car Reviews

I've always secretly kinda wanted one of these.

My sister had a blue one, what I learned to drive stick in.

I snuck her key and had a copy made. I used to push it out of the driveway at night, drive around all night, smoking her pot (she kept it in the car). Good times

I'd love to watch that, but that dude is more annoying than listening to Doc Rivers talk. There's just nothing they can say that would make me sit through even 10sec™ of listening to their voice.

This is actually one of his less annoying ones. He talks like a normal person for probably 95% of the video

He's complaining about the rev drop-off and that's due to the automatic throttle positioner which most likely failed a long time ago at the 80K or so mark. They were known to eventually fail.

This car had an automatic throttle positioner which would hold the engine revs high after you pushed the clutch in until the car's speed dropped below a certain threshold, then it would cut out and drop the revs to idle. Without the throttle positioner working, that engine would indeed drop the revs like a rock when it was taken out of gear. The engine made a ton of torque and you could easily do a one wheel burnout.

It also did not have power steering and didn't need it since the car was so light. This helped in the steering / road feel department. The shifter was indeed very smooth and it had a hydraulic clutch.

One thing he forgot to show was the dot matrix led display below the radio which would show trouble information about the car, such as "Brake Booster, Lining Wear, Battery Water Level" and other things. It was very revolutionary for the day.

The car came in coupe and hatchback versions. The small rear windows could roll down on their own and had manual cranks, just like the front windows.

Well, that's about all I can remember.

I definitely know he's not for everyone, but I didn't find this one as annoying as I usually do. I take no responsibility for any annoyance you may personally incur, and any future dealings on this matter will be handled by my lawyer.
