WITH traffic. Granted its not using the "official" start/stop line the manufacturers time from, but this is still god damn impressive. It's so planted and smooth everywhere on track, and frankly defies all physics in some sections. This is why I will never tire of ring vids.

He's so smooth...the car never looks unsettled...he's not hanging out the rear (hell I don't think I saw any real oversteer)...the BTCC tires probably helped a bit...just looked like a super clean run, from a guy that REALLY knows the car and the track...car doesn't look over powered or sketchy at any point. Super impressive.

This doesn't make sense to me. The lap time itself is incredibly impressive for such an old car, but how is the steering so smooth. At times the car is so smooth/slow to react to movement of the steering wheel that it almost seems like it's routinely in a controlled understeer

For reference here's a GTR running a 7:08 lap time. Less HP, awd, better suspension, and the car looks WAY more difficult to handle

I don't get it

It's the lap timing. The "Bridge To Gantry" lap is about shorter than the official full lap that the manufacturers use. The GTR is about 45 seconds quicker. That's not to discredit the driver because he nailed that lap, but it's comparing apples to oranges.
