E-Fan Conversion recommendations

Cousin is going to be throwing in a new motor into his '01 Silverado 1500 HD in the coming months, and figured he'd do an E-Fan conversion, while were in there.

He sent me this kit, but seems expensive for what it is, and looks like it doesn't truly integrate with the harness and ECU?

I know there are quite a few GM guys on here that have done E-Fan conversions, what's the go-to kit or go-to process?

I know the Tbss guys do the gto fans. Which I have one laying around somewhere I think if that'd work for this application

fwiw- my 07 sierra which is the same body has efans from the factory.

what's he do with the truck?

He'll tow occasioanlly, but mostly just a DD

I'm not sure if I'd do it... mechanical fans cool really fucking well. something needed in a heavy duty truck- especially when towing.

I had spal efans from pcm for less on my trailblazer, they were very nice but kind of expensive

stick with the clutch fan. my 2500 while pulling a 9000+lb. trailer with the engine driven fan didn't overheat during a 450 mile road trip. it'll be more than enough for a DD

So the concensus is stick with the clutch fan....huh, I'd always heard going to with the E-Fan was the way to go...

i mean to pick up a few hp and maybe a couple tenths of mpg or more to me in a truck with a 6.0 and beefy shit isn't worth it. i'd rather have the reliability and cooling ability of the factory clutch fan than aftermarket something.

He's also not going to be towing shit in the south, which seems to be a concensus among the HD towing guys. He lives up in the UP and drives to Nebraska a lot. He really should be looking for something that gets better mileage reliably.

Right now, with the motor blown on his truck, he's using my old Volvo S70, which he blew up AWD output shaft, and is running it FWD only. Personally, I think he should be finding something that is reliable that gets good mileage, and not trying to fix his 250K mile truck, that'll be getting him 13 MPG at best.

C6, LS1 F-body or spal. No GTO that I know of.

Upgrading to the 05+, I'd imagine, would be pretty cheap, as you can grab the harness and e-fans from any 05+ 1500 from the junkyard

Wouldn't a cold air intake and a tune be around the same price as e fans and net better mpgs?
Shoot I bought a cheap eBay intake and see about 2 mpg averaged better on long backroad drives
