I know they have really expensive maint. parts lol. A small outer tie rod end was like 200 dollars.

The VQ in them is bulletproof. My old boss has a 2005 ish Murano and she puts a lot of miles on it. The CVT trans lasted over 200K miles before needing to be rebuilt.

Nissan does CVTs better than anyone else. You'll hardly recognize it as a CVT. They had a string of problems and extended the warranty on the trans:

"2003-2010 Vehicles equipped with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) also have a 10-year /120,000 mile CVT limited warranty extension."

thanks for that info this trans is my main concern about the car but it seems it might not be to much to worry about

The rogue we had as a rental felt silly and shaked because at a cruise speed it lugged the engine at like 1100rpms. Sport button made it ok and brought the rpms up

My dad bought his 2006 new, has around 175K miles now and still going strong. Has had no mechanical issues at all with regular routine maintenance. I was also worried about the CVT longevity, but its just as smooth as day 1. The VQ35DE is bulletproof.

My sister bought one of the first ones new. She loved the look, hated the trans. Maybe they've fixed them now, but then they were junk. Sold it off in months when it'd get "fixed" and come back the same.

the early ones had trans issues and Nissan extended the powertrain warranty to 100 or 120K I believe.

They eat rear brakes twice as fast as front. Other than that I don't know. I'm doing rear brakes on a customers car like once a year.

Thanks again for all the input this ones got almost 90k on the clock so im liking all the feedback of them running strong til 175k plus!

Besides balljoints being garbage and exhausts rusting out, they're alright. Just be aware of oil burning and timing chain issues too, which is less common but still a problem

Not necessarily a murano, but a friends fiance has a rogue with the cvt, and it has been through 3 cvt transmissions in 40k miles, all installed by a nissan dealership.

I test drove one awhile back when I got my jeep. I liked it but I could not STAND the dashboard and it's hugeness. It felt way too minivanish. Drove nice tho. That's about all I have to contribute. lol

Look into a toyota highlander.

I would totally buy one. Thats saying a lot. Theyre pretty bad ass.
