I might be in the market for a new truck soon - I would like to get another diesel but what I want might be a little out of my price range... so next option is maybe the Chevy 5.3/6.0L Gas or Ford 5.4L Gas - I'm pretty familiar with the Chevy engines and I really like them for many reasons - but I would prefer a 4 door truck which pretty much leaves me with Fords - I've only had one experience with the 5.4L - I used to drive a F350 work truck and we never had any problems - but that's the only encounter I've had with one

So... Pros/Cons of Ford/Chevy gas trucks please!

1999-2004 model years most likely - will also need to tow 6000lbs

going to be older... probably should've mentioned that - 1999 - 2004 most likely...

The 99 Expedition I briefly had was a stout truck with the 5.4, and they can be had surprisingly cheap and are rated to handle nearly 8,000. I towed with mine twice, and it towed a car and trailer like a champ.

Even so, I'd still rather own a LS powered truck if the price isn't a deal breaker.

whats your budget? because you can buy alot of diesel tow rig for a under 10g

$5k - 7k max... But if like to stay under 5 so I don't have to get another car loan... It seems either a 200k+ diesel or 100k gas trucks are in that range - it also needs to be Ext cab or 4door - found a couple trucks just waiting for the Burban to go bye bye

That's why I asked... There is 8 million navigators, expeditions, and f250s with the 5.4 for dirt cheap

I've got an 04 Ford 3v 5.4 and its a great truck. The truck I had before this was a 2000 silverado 4.8 5 speed. It was a good truck, but had no balls. The Ford is a much tougher truck, but the Chevy got good mileage.

The things to look out for on the Fords are plugs. The older 2v 5.4's spit them out and the newer 3v's are a nightmare to change.

When they go to 3v?
