First minute or two are speed passes. The 2nd part is 200m drag races against bikes and a old Porsche. The XO-1 isn't even in the frame for the Porsche race.

Then again, when you have a RC car that can do 0-60mph in 2.3 seconds, thats pretty damned fast.

Didn't realize, but Car & Driver tested the XO-1.

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.3 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 6.9 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 11.7 sec @ 101mph
Top speed (redline limited): 101 mph

11.7 @ 101mph. They said it took most of that 1/4 mile to reach top speed, but if its doing 11.7 @ 101mph then its obvious that its hitting 101mph long before the 1/4 mile with the kind of acceleration its capable of. The average car running 101mph is ranging from very high 12s at best, to a high 13 on the slow end. This car is doing it a full second quicker than that.

Max speed based on the following assuming the batteries can supply the current needed without dropping voltage.
Diff Ratio: 2.846
Pinion: 34t
Spur: 46t
Tire Diameter 4.33"
Motor RPM unloaded @ 25.2v: 42,580rpm

Speed at Max motor RPM: 139.11mph.

However, during heavy loads the batteries voltage will drop, leading to less overall RPM.

Without data logging its hard to tell how much voltage will drop, so estimate at 10% here. So about 125mph assuming drag doesn't take that # down even more.

The XO-1 motor can take more voltage, guys use 8S lipo on them. You have to keep the Rotor speeds down or the rotor might shatter. 8S lipo with a Mamba XL-2 controller should let the XO-1 do nearly 140mph.

i ran 101mph at a high 13 low 14 in my gtp back in the day. this thing is fucking quick as shit.

My GTA ran 13.3 @ 103mph. I bet the XO-1 is already doing 90-95mph by the 8th mile.


As for the fastest XO-1? I was doing all my calcs with the stock ESC and Motor. Changing out to a higher voltage lets generate more torque with the same current. The ESC is rated at 120amps continuous.

6S Lipo pulling 120amps is making 3,024w, or roughly 4hp.

8S lipo pulling 120amps is making 4,032w, or roughly 5.4hp.

But realistically during hard acceleration the XO-1 can pull upwards of 200-250amps for short periods.

Would be surprised if during acceleration the XO-1 is making about 8hp or so for a few seconds.
