I've got a junkyard found Gen V and matching lower intake that will be getting some attention here soon. The engine they came off of had a small fire and they are a bit grimy to say the least. I want to clean them up before figuring out if I want to keep or sell them.

Whats the best cleaning agent to use that won't harm the aluminum? What comes to mind first is Simple Green but from past experiences it took longer than expected for it to do the job. Any input would be appreciated.

Here is what I am working with:

My CC plates that were aluminum were corroded, but not that bad. I cleaned them with a nylon brush, scotchbrite pads, and WD 40. Finshed it off with some metal polish and a rag. That will take some elbow grease though! Maybe use a semi-coarse wire wheel on a drill to start off.
