Default DD- Keep me AWAY from GTP's

Its time where I need a DD. I had a GTP back in the day, besides me buying a completely abused piece of shit, I LOVED the car.... Milege wasnt great, but it had DECENT power...

I have always loved the Ford Fusions, black on black...

I need it to be reliable, great milege, and can clean up very well.. I'm looking to spend less than $10G's....

I see CLEAN GTP's go for way less.... I just dont want to leave out any other options.. Mainly I want it to CLEAN up real well so I can feels fancy

An early 00's 3 series fits the bill nicely, Jared bought one a while back for DD duty and is a big fan IIRC

You could also get Acura TL's for that money which may fit the bill even better (thats what I'd recommend).

If you have 10K to spend and want a "clean" GTP you should probably look at 04+ GTP's. Alot of the 97-03's are beat to fuck and have rust issues.

Someone is selling a 05 GTP Comp G on chitown for $6500.

Comp G's don't get near as good of mileage (hwy at least) as regular 04+ GTP's without the package due to final gear ratio. 3.29 vs. 2.93 IIRC.

From a dig though the comp G is more fun. I had one for 3 years, and in the end I would have preferred a regular GTP as some of the Comp G stuff was just meh.

RPO code was WS6 and was only available in 2004 and 2005 and could only be added to GTP's.





The Comp G has the FE3 Suspension

Springs are the same for all 04 and 05 cars.
Rear Stiffer Struts PN is 88955413
Front Stiffer Struts PN is 88955411

The front sway bar for is the same for the 04's and 05's PN 10346886

2004 rear sway bar is PN 10274610 (same as the GXP sway bar and is a the better bar of the two years)
2005 rear sway bar is PN 10351314 (and is different from the 04)


The internal changes to the 4T65E transmission are in the valve body, spacer plate and the channel plate. These parts are unique to the TAP Shift equipped 4T65E transmission. A non-TAP transmission has a different valve body, spacer plate and channel plate and these parts can not be mixed.

we just picked up a 04 GTP comp G and love it. rides great, looks good, have no complaints (other then i need to adjust the HUD spring. has 130K and paid $5.5

Fusion's are nice, but pre-09's had a little 2.3L I4 that doesn't really get that good of mileage. The V6's are nice, but you are going to lose a bit on mileage. Also what do you consider great mileage? I had an '11 2.5L I4 Fusion and got no less than 26 mpg around the city, and always over 32-33 on the highway.

My 2012 Fusion is 28 mpg city / 36 mpg hwy. Give or take a mile per gallon.


Beside the Grand Prix, there are the Impalas (already mentioned) and Malibu. Granted a Camry / Accord. Altimas are reliable too (some rust out in the floor pans). Fusion / Milan.

Still see a number of Buick Lesabres running strong on the road.
