Just got the Mustang running and now i'm worried!!

Hey guys, I just picked up a D.S.S. ProMod shortblock a couple months ago and I have about 50 miles on it in the 4 days its been running. I've been very easy on it and changed the oil and filter twice and I've been using Castrol 5w30 conventional with the DSS oil additive. I've noticed a slight knock that you can only hear under the car and I'm getting 80-85 psi of oil pressure cold and 45-50 psi hot. Should i be worried about this knocking or is this something normal during the break in time. I've been keeping it under 3000 rpms.

Knocking type noises are only normal for diesels.

Did you set your oil pick up tube to pan depth??? Sounds like ya might be sucking the bottom of the pan and you spun some rod bearings. That oil pressure at full operating temp is way to high and could be from the spun rod bearings.

Yea i did set the tube depth at what they told me too. I did get there high volume pump.

I had a guy that has built a few 4 valves and a couple 2 valves put it together. I thought the oil pressure was a little high but i called TaintedSnake99 and asked him what his was in his Cobra and his is about the same.

I also noticed it only does it when its hot.

spark knock? is it DIS or distributor? timing might be off. is it running hot? if its not timing you can cancel cylinders one at a time and see if it goes away
