Default Europe banning the (new) sales of v8 Camaros and Vettes

https://driving.ca/chevrolet/auto-ne...amaro-ss-sales

As Europe continues to tighten emissions regulations, the handful of EU or U.K. citizens that appreciate the subtleties of the Chevrolet V8 and have been hoping to get into the latest performance offering from the brand are finding themselves in a pinch.

A ban on sales of any Chevy vehicle with a 6.2-litre LT1 V8 engine will take effect August 31, 2019, making the C7 Corvette and sixth-gen Camaro SS impossible to purchase new in the United Kingdom and European Union as of September 1, though used models can still be moved.

The over-460-horsepower V8 engine just doesn’t fit with Europe’s vision of a pollution-free future.

You guys can't see through this? What about Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferarri, etc?

This is a response to our policies towards them and others. You can't just shit on the world and not expect them to fart back.

Some dude on a corvette forum had this to say
"The article here is somewhat misleading. The Corvette and Camaro have not been "banned" in Europe.

The EU implemented new rules for emission testing (specifically CO2 and fuel consumption) about four years ago, that fully go into effect this August. The law actually went into effect about 2 years ago, but exemptions and extensions have delayed it's full implementation until this August. After August 31, every car model sold in a EU country, will be required to pass the World Light Vehicle Test Procedure. Just like the emission testing required by the EPA in the US, the EU's WLTP is quite expensive and time consuming for manufacturer's. The new test procedure has effected every company that sells cars in the EU, not just Chevrolet.

The Corvette and Camaro were certified under the previous EU testing procedures, but GM has decided not to go through the time and expense to recertify the current models. I assume there just weren't enough sales of the Camaro, to justify the expense, while it makes no sense for GM to recertify the existing Corvette, since production is ending. I've read that the new mid engine Corvette will be submitted for WLTP certification, once it's in production, and GM is ready to start exporting them to Europe."

I am very impressed with how manufacturers, especially the german ones, keep increasing horsepower while complying with stricter EU regulations

Even motorcycles that get 35+mpg aren't exempt from these stricter emissions. Euro4 killed motorcycle exhaust and belly pans...but they still keep getting faster

2013, 199hp:

2020, 207hp, FUGLY exhaust and belly pan setup:
