Complementing the 650 supercharged ponies is an equally impressive 650 pound-feet of torque. Lovely as that second figure is, we really need to break down where the power is available. According to Chevy, 457 pound-feet of torque is available at idle, while 96 percent of peak torque arrives by 2,800 rpm.

I think this is what Dodge was waiting for to release Hellcat #'s -Now if they say 700hp (or 687, etc) they can say "Introducing the most powerful V8 to ever come out of Detroit..." and it'll stick for at least a year.

I think they mean right off idle @ WOT. I doubt they want the engine to use that much fuel at idle.
