Well until the steel belts in CVT transmissions can actually handle power and torque then this is the next best option

also I think its the technology of using automated manual transmissions as automatics instead of hydraulic units... can cram a lot more gearing in the same space plus less power loss

... dodge dart is supposed to be getting a 9 speed by 3rd quarter!

How heavy is this trans. going to be? I mean, the 3-speed trans we took out of my fathers old Pontiac weighed about the same as the T5 in my old T/A. However, the T5 had an alum. casing, where the 3-speed housing was cast and slightly rusted iron.

Still, very cool to conceptualize a 10 speed transmission. I'm w/ BrianG and would like to see the cut-away of that at the Auto Show
