security system relearn

Hey guys I been having this issue with my car for about 1 week now. It will start up and turn off after about a second. I can give it gas to keep it on for maybe an extra 2 seconds then it shuts down. Someone took a look at it and said it was a anti theft issue. Does anyone know how to do a security relearn?

if possible put car on charger/disconnect drl's
insert key, try to start, when engine dies leave key on for 10minutes, turn off then turn on (do not crank) for another 10, then turn off and turn on again for another 10 minutes, turn off and key/passkey setting should be relearned and it should start..
the reader module and key are usually what fail but the IPC.BCM can also fail and prevent the code from being transmitted to the pcm over the serial data bus

Instrament panel computer or the Body control module

dep which variant of passkey/passlock/VATS you have is what determins the system layout....not always can the VTD be eliminated through reflashing the pcm

find another known good key and do a relearn on it. if still nothing youll need to scan for VTD errors in either the IPC/BCM/VTD module

I see what heavykevy is on to, I think he draws a good point. When i was told about this "problem" I was unaware the car would stay running with the addition of throttle. This would have nothing to do with the security system if the car continues to run when giving it gas. Def sounds like a fuel pump/resistor/supercloggedfilter problem.

What the OP describes is exactly what I've felt/experienced on 2 resistors failing on both of my cars once... when I had to do a security relearn, the car would even start, and the security light would just flash

your fuel pump resistor took a shit

I really don't know, but HK seems to be pretty sure about the resistor, def something you should check out.

Kevin, he's got a fuel pressure gauge, would it show the resistor problem?

yes, he will also find that 12v to the pump goes away when it switches down to low speed.
you can bypass the relay or the resister to dbl check

if he could watch it after the car is started iirc, it primes, just doesnt stay on when it goes to "low" mode or whatever

pull the fp speed relay and bend the primary circuit pins 86 or 85 out of the way to prevent the pcm from switching to low speed operation

I also have a boost a pump on the car not sure if that would have to do with this issue I never delt with this kind of issue so should I not do the relearn should I get a new fp resistor?

delete it to confirm but alot of folks just leave the pump in high speed mode all the time

if the BAP is triggered off the fuel tank harness coming from the secondary sides of both the high/low speed circuits then it should be doing as its supposed to and only turn on under power....it just isnt getting the power and in turn not turning on.

delete the low speed circuit and run it in high speed, if your problems go away then your golden. if not then you continue diagnostics
