find a rail from down south where the zinc dicromate/brazing hasent corroded to fuck

if the zinc is in good shape just a 3inch buffer wheel in a high speed drill will bring it to a helluva luster (dont go too far as youll just remove the coating)
the brazed joints use a cotton/hemp twine (1/8th inch dia) and run it around with a litle compound and pull cycle it, this will let you shine the fuck outta the brazed points while avoiding damaging the tubes coating.
youll get the hang of the string trick fairly fast but start on the braze joints under the alternator first
looks damn nice...clearcoat it or wipe it with a wax
the 442's front rails came off the motor dropout of a wrecked 99 bonneville from North carolina. it WAS minty enough that it polished up within an hours work.
tape off the openings to prevent contamination till you have to remove one to polish the inj cup (the string is fucking awesome to shine em up) shove a largish corner of a paper towel/rag in there.
probably worth it anyways to pull the FPR and clean/blowout the rails to make sure they are spotless inside...no point to having to clean out polishing compound as well as worry about dust/old fuel varnish
