Do i really need to replace the wheel bearing bolts and spindle nut?

Doing my room mates piece of fuckin shit monte carlo's front wheel bearing tomorrow... and i keep seeing the replacement of these bolts as "neccesary" what's TCG's take?

i never have on anything ive worked on *knocks on wood*

fastener replacement is necessary obviously if damaged, but i always replace tty (torque to yield) stuff, which are the ones that you have to rotate an additional amount of degrees in addition to the normal torque ie head bolts

pretty much what i was thinking.. i know if i let him take it to a shop... they most likely wouldnt be replacing the bolts.

i reuse the bolts and axle nut allll the time

I've had teachers at school say no about axel nuts, but really :gives:
I've taken my axle nut off a couple of times to check some shit out and I still have no problems :knock on wood: The wheel bearing bolts on the other hand, it depends. If they look pretty new, I don't see why not. If they're rusted to shit like they mostly end up, they're cheap so might as well get rid of em.

most axle nuts are mechanical locking and if they thread on too easily i just re peen the locking collar with a ball peen hammer (if your not that good at aiming, a centerpunch works great and will save your thumb too)

I reuse those bolts and use a drop of locktite for piece of mind

why are the axle nuts different sizes from car to car.. i keep seeing some say 34, others 35 or 36.

depends on whether its aftermarket or stock i reuse the stocker on the aftermarket axles cause its a much better made piece with rolled threads not cut threads

oem is 34mm all my aftermarket are 36mm

if your not sure if he's had his replaced ya might wanna rent both just to make sure you dont have to run back mid job
