HUD?

So lately when i drive either my HUD doesnt work or it is fine for about 2 minutes and then fades out and in then out and will shut off with out me touching the dimmer switch or anything. Does anyone have any idea what this could be from or has this happened to anyone else? I mean id rather not have to take it somewhere for them to diagnois it and hack away at my dash so any information would be awesome.

IIRC, it is indicating a bad LCD display... you'll need a replacement...

this happened to me, i ended up re-soldering the photo cell.

ok two things what does IIRC mean? and how difficult would that be to replace?

you aren't replacing the photocell itself, just the solder joints.
there is a thread on clubGP with a step by step on how to fix it.

This happened to me. I posted about it but the search didnt find it. It is easy to get out. All I did with mins was Disconnected it and took it apart, cleaned it, retightened the screws, and put in back in. Then it worked perfect for 2 years about. I think from all the bumps this is what causes that. I say try that before you spend $ to replace it. They might just need to be tightened..

how do you pop it out? just pry it out with a flat head?
