A/C Recharge?

Hey is there anything I can do to get my A/C to get a little colder? It gets fairly cold but I want it to be like spitting ice at me

How does recharging it work? I have the tools at my house to do it. I may just need to buy the free on for it though.

If its a 134 system, just go to AZ and buy a can with the hose and follow the directions. Very easy and inexpensive to do.

So you're saying you have the manifold gauge set, vacuum pump, scale, new bottle of R-134a, and a way to recycle it? Your AC is already working (very well from it sounds like), I say don't fuck with it. If you really want it to do a recharge, PM me and I'll do it.

I dont know if it is low. The reason I say that I have some or most of the tools is that my pops works on appliances and he has the stuff to top off the condensers on fridges and such.

The tool has three gauges and three hoses. Ive seen him do work on all of the familys cars except mine. He even had R12 (I think thats it. The stuff you cant get anymore).

You can still get R12, you just need a license to buy.

Probably. If its working and just not blowing as cold as you'd like, given the recent weather, its probably doing the best it can.

If your pops is in the HVAC biz, have him check it out for ya.

For God's sake, if it shows to be full, don't add any more; you'll seize up the compressor! Most all of the kits at the parts stores have a simple gauge on it to show you if it's low or not.

Even before you fill it so much that it would seize the compressor, just overcharging the system can actually cause negative results (A/C blows warmer). If your dad has the gauge sets and all have him look at it for ya before you go adding or removing any refrigerant from the system.

as the outside temps go up, freon pressure goes up. as pressure goes up the temperature of the freon goes up, not allowing it to blow as cool.
