where to wire?

i wanna wire my fuzz buster into a power wire from lets say the radio so i can have both outlets in my car... where which wire should i splice it into??? i dont know much about wireing stuff

On 04+ grand prix there is no 12 switch power wires that really run through the car except for a couple that run off the RAP circuit. Pull the passeneger side kick panel and look for a large yellow wire that runs in to the passenger front door. Use a test light to make sure you have the correct wire and then strip some insulation back and solider the fuzz buster wire into that one.

What about the cigarette lighter?

EDIT: I'm talking about the wiring harness inside the dash that connects to the lighter.

no cigarette lighter in this car, just two power outlets and they are constant 12V. The sunroof circuit is part of thr RAP system that is why it works. The 04 + Grand Prix uses data to turn on devices such as the radio and that is why we are limited to what wires can be tapped in to.

I think Tommy and I's car have similarly inconvenient wiring systems. I wired mine into the fuse panel under my back seat.

Hmmm...I have mine hard wired to the cigarette lighter. It's been like that for 4 years without any problems. It shuts off after 10 mins or so.

Right. His "power outlets" I'm sure double as cigarette lighters, he probably just doesn't have the lighter. I was referring to the stereo being that goofy data connector with no real power wire going to it.

well ill probably just mess around and see what i can find if anything im gonna end up wireing it into the power outlet by the shifter

you could always just get an adapter that turns one plug-in into two....

Buy an "Add a circuit" or maybe it's called an "Add a fuse"
Regardless...
Tap into the fuse panel, use the circuit that runs the sunroof
You'll have a dedicated fuse for the Radar Detector & not have extra draw on the rest of the system
