3800 Problems with a 99' GP GT...

I have a friend with a 99’ Grand Prix GT who just e-mailed me this;
“It just took a shit on me. It won't start. I have fuel pressure. Around 47#. I have spark. Car will crank over if I step on the gas peddle while starting it. Idles funny then dies. Before the car gave out completly, it would start run for around 20 min then die. Wait a couple hours and it would start up for another 20 or so min. Do you have any ideas on what it could be?”

My thoughts go to perhaps the intake gasket but I really don’t know. I’m going to ask if there are any codes or if there is any out of the ordinary noises under the hood like “hissing” sounds.

Any other input at this time?

Does this have anything to do with the relay? You know which one I am talking about....

IIRC, GTs dont have the same fuel pump relays that GTPs have. GT fuel pumps run on high all the time where as GTPs have a high and low. IIRC in 01 that was changed though.

CPS maybe? Seeing as (if im reading this correctly) it has gotten progressively worse.

I would suspect the crank sensor as well...

It turned out to be the MAF...go figure...
