Yeah, this is "a little bit in advance," but time is flying by. It's only about 8 or 9 weeks away!
GLD does offer a great deal for that opening week. They only charge you admission ($15 IIRC), and you race for free. This brings out tons of people though, especially for the first 2 days. In exchange for the decreased cost, you get decreased track prep too. As long as you are patient (i.e. long waits in staging lanes and clean-ups from poorly prepared cars breaking), it is worth it. Despite these realities, I will try to make it there for 1 or 2 days as well.
If you are shooting for a new PB, you are better off waiting a week or so until they get more rubber laid down, and they prep more. Just an FYI after racing there for over 11 years!
