Thats just it. I would think you could do better with a bigger turbo. Problem is Lag. You could bassically eliminate boost lag. I don't really see the point though in an AWD car that launches at like 6k RPM. I have seen it done on several MR-2's though. They had crazy powerbands with a torque curve to die for. The set-up isn't so much about peak power, as the powerband. If you do it right, you can have zero lag from the S/C, then just as the blower starts running out of breath up top, the turbo is spooled up and takes over. Probably more effective on a car that revs really high and can really take advantage of the benefits of both power adders. I could see it being really useful on a road course or autox car moreso than a drag car.
