Get a '98 LS1 MAF, it's external, has the same 3 wire connector as the stocker, and tunes pretty easy. I ran that set-up for 2 years, and it worked great. I switched over to the LQ4 MAF now because it's bigger, I'd also suggest that, but the tune needs to be substantially changed to accomidate it.

the MAF is the same part # for the 95up LT1 impala's as well as the 98 van/truck 5.7's 3100/3400/3500

ACDELCO Part # 213352

so i figure it can flow more than enough i can work on the tune with eric's PT to get it running good with the L36 shortblock/67 topend not too much harder than the LQ4 tune for eric's riviera

the 98 LS1 has the part# 213353

meh it's free so we'll give it a shot...i'll go ahead and chop the maf tower outta the 98 L67 TB we can always go to the LQ4 in the future if we can max the 3100/Lt1 MAF

thanks for the input Ron

haha it takes forever but you can find shit on clubgp!

ORIGINAL: Ron Vogel

It's not just that the LQ4 can support higher flow, it's higher flowing than the stock set-up. A ported out stock TB with an outboard MAF will flow better than a ported stocker with the stock MAF.

i knew my dial caliper didnt lie

gotta go finish airsawing out the maf stalk....

I use a Milwaukee sawzall to take it out..hehe.[/b]
snapon airsaw 10,000 strokes per minute for her pleasure :lolsign:

Also, you'll need to smooth out the maf hole, I fill it with Devcon epoxy. I have 2-'97 TB's on the shelf right now, one is already cut.
[/b]

i was gonna tap it deep and use a pipe plug and not worry about it... i should be able to get the bottom of the plug close to the "roof" of the TB if i need to i can epoxy it smooth
