3800 Intake Idea - Anyone tried this?

I was wondering if anyone has tried combining the benefits of an open CAI cone and FWI into one. Theoretically there is enough room to have one cone in the engine bay and split some sort of Y connection into the fenderwell for another cone. Any thoughts about this?

I'd be willing to try this out if anyone could assist me with the parts/install.

I cannot think of any reasons why not to try it, unless the benefits are negligible over having one of two other mutually exclusive systems alone.

I am not real good with this stuff, but I can't see much of an improvement by doing this since you are still restricted to the amout of air that can travel through the tube. I would imagine the engine is already maxing that out at WOT anyways. Just my .02

The problem is that in order to combine each setups benefits, both setups must have benefits. When comparing a FWI to an underhood filter the FWI is clearly the victor thus negating the need for the underhood filter.

Well, a FWI beats out an open cone (which is what you would have to run in this situation) but I wouldn't say CLEARLY beats out a CAI.

I don't think there would be any benifit from runnign 2 intakes like that.

What you could do is build a box and open up the fenderwell such that the box can draw air from the engine compartment so 1) you get more air than from the fender and 2) you get the cooling benefits of the air coming from the fender well.

I just dont see any gain from splitting these up, and running a "dual" intake? I think you either stick with an open cone, CAI, or FWI and call it a day...

Oh i agree completely, but to help him out i am just putting the idea out there of having just one filter, just one inlet tube, but a box that is open to and brings air in from both the fender well and the engine compartment
