Can anyone recommend a place (prefer NW suburbs) where I can take some stock engine parts (stb, engine braces, etc.) to get professionally stripped.

The black coating on these parts does not come off with strippers that can be bought in stores. I've tried everything from aircraft stripper, auto stripper, etc.

Media blasting puts too many knicks in the metal.

if you can get some, sodium hypochlorite is (as far as i know) the strongest basic stripper known to man. Basic meaning: acid, base...

at a certain percentage is is know to eat through human flesh with ease. do a little research and buy some if it fits your application. HTH

Allow me to correct myself. It is sodium hydroxide, NOT hypochlorite - which is just bleach. -_-
