So i finally made it to the track today, and im kinda disappointed at the results...I made three runs in total because there were alot of ppl there today...(In order)-14.891 @ 92.52 MPH with a 2.162 60'.....then a 14.703 @93.88 MPH with a 2.223 60'...finally a 14.695 @ 94.74 MPH with a 2.338 60'....like i said before, im kinda disappointed, i was hoping maybe lower 14's, but this is my first time at the track ever so maybe next time it will go a lil better

My first day ever at the track was like that....then I remembered to pull my headlight and I got a 14.2 or 14.3. I had the same mods as you now that I remember. Did you do the ussual track prep? (pull headlight, empty trunk/spare, drop front tires to 24 psi)

I left my tires at about 30-31...took my system out(minus about 100 lbs there), left the spare in, and when i got there, went to take off the headlight, and looked for the tool, but i took it out before so i couldnt take it out....Does taking out the headlight make that big of a difference?

I think it definitely does. I took mine out right in the staging lanes after seeing another car w/o theirs and realized I forgot to pull mine. (gotta love the buick design, I can remove the headlight in 20 seconds :)) I am not embelishing at all, but I went from a 14.6ish to 14.3ish with that one change.

well, I double checked my time slips (I save all of them) and the 14.3x runs had 2.1x sixty's and the 14.6x runs had 2.2x-2.3x sixty's....

so, Im not saying the headlight gave me 3 tenths better times, but I do believe its worth near a tenth.

Work on those 60' times and pull the headlight and you should get down to 14.3's, in my opinion

its weird, your 60' times were higher when your et dropped. usually it is the opposite. definately use weight reductions, and add race gas before you leave to the track. keep your tank right where the low fuel light comes on, empty your ride and lower the pressure in your tires, you SHOULD be around 13.9-14.3 with your mods and proper race prep

i was at 14.5 all stock

i went to Gateway Raceway in St. Louis last week and i have the same mods as you except i have totally stock exhaust. headlight was still in, 93 octane but my gas light was on. spare/jack were still in and tires at regular pressure.

my first run ever at a track i ran 2.485 60' and 14.768 @ 94.41mph. yes my 60' was shitty so next i ran a 2.2 60' and a 14.595 @ 95.11mph. so i cut almost 2 tenths just by reducing my 60'. my last and best run i had a 2.121 60' and14.593 @ 94.19mph. my engine was running hot as hell though cause it was about 80 degrees out. so i'm sure if it was cooler out i would have been a little faster. also next time i am goona take my headlight out and run some race gas and we willl see if i can get a little quicker.
