3800 Crankshaft position sensor

I need a new one. Looking for someone with prior experience doing this. The dealer wants $250.00 for it and the part only costs like $30.00.

you have to take off the front cover to do it, thats why its so expensive.

The car will occationaly do any of these:

-Loss of power at times
-Rough idle
-Tach. resting at zero (o) RPM's when engine is running
-Car dies at a stop (red light)
-Car dies and doesnt restart for a while
-Car dies while driving
-Car dies while driving and doesnt restart for a while

You definately need one. That is what my regal did, replaced it and it runs fine now. You will need a case learn after replacing it. The dealer I took it to charged me 70 bucks...

For the sensor or the case learn?

I have an extended warranty and they said it wouldn't be covered unless it completly fails. :bsflag:

It's not like it throws any codes when it does this either. Like I would wait until the car doesn't run just so they will cover the repair.

Oh well I guess I wait until I get some motor work done and do it then.

You dont have to remove the front cover, you have to remove the crankshaft pulley(harmonic balancer) to replace it.
