3800 bypassing boost bypass

ok this is the 3rd time trying to post this.. raced a kid had cone filter, straight pipes , 3.4 and a chip, and he bypassed the boost bypass canister. i was wondering if the bypass was possible without blowing gaskets. will the pcm compensate fuel for the extra amount of air entering the system to prevent detonation? just wondering how this could work. thanks

What boost bypass canister? The boost bypass is a vacuum controlled "lever" or actuator whatever. But when there is vacuum it opens a "bypass" hole in the supercharger, which allows air to cirulate between the intake manifold and the supercharger. When the hole is closed all that air is directed to the supercharger and then into the manifold, and no re-circulation is allowed.

A mod you can do is adjust the bypass actuator whatever up and down to change how soon it closes. So you can make boost start sooner or later, but it wont change the amount of boost you have.

I really hope his "chip" isnt an ebay resistor

yeah im talking about that canister... he just disconnected it and ran a vacuum hose to the manifold vacuum hose on the other side of the diaphram type lever. does this give full boost at all time without recirculating? would he have a performance advantage by doing this?

I cant possibly see a performance increase. Im unsure how the voltage source controls the bypass lever, but im wonderin if the bypass lever is just free to move now, without a vacuum source. If so, then he may get a decrease in mpg, and lower boost.
