3800 Changing SC Oil

I decided to pick up 2 bottles of SC oil when I was at work today.

I just wasnt sure what to use to get the oil out ( i've heard people say turkey basters and things like that) or how much to put back in when I'm done.

Was looking to do this tonight probabally so if anybody knows let me know.

it takes anywhere from 1.5 - 2 bottles. It depends on how much you can get out. there is only 2 ways to get ALL the old fluid out. remove the SC and turn it upside-down to drain it or take the snout off.
when refilling, fill it till you see it at the bottom of the threads of the fill/drain hole.

Yea go with /\/\/\/\/\/\. You need to fill it until you reach the bottom of the threads. Just remember to use a scented nose cover when performing this delicate procedure. It will reek like dead skunk in a septic tank....

more like someone vomited on a corpse....j/k it smells, but not that bad. Change it every 8 - 12k if you drive it hard. They recommend 25 -30k. Have fun.

use a soap dispenser.......I can take out 2 bottles that way.

Turkey basters are to big.....

I use a plastic syringe with a hose attached to it, went a lot easier that way for me.

i overfilled mine, it just started coming out the breather nut slightly. i saw it the next day actually, i must have filled it on a slight incline.

Ok. well I guess I'm gonnna try to remove the hub tomorrow. I think between my buddy and I we can do it. Any gaskets or anything I need to know about? Never messed with the sc really, still a newb to L67. Any gaskets? What should it be torqued back to when I put it on?

Just dont wanna screw up something.

you DONT need to remove the SC or hub unless you want to get every drop of the old fluid out (I was just making a suggestion...). there really is no reason for that.
Royal and IH8 had great ideas for getting 90% of the fluid out. just go that route.

FYI, the hex nut that you remove to fill drain and fill the SC, make SURE it fits good with no slop. it is very easy to round off the hex portion if your hexkey does not fit properly.

Well its done successfully. Dunno if its just placebo but it seems like it pull boost a little quicker when i punch it. My passenger also said the same thing.

But last time we both rode in it and punch it i had alot of sutff in the car so maybe thats it if its not just placebo.
