3800 3.8 Series II ...

my freind just bought a 98 Park Ave. (not sure why) yesterday , and it has the 3.8 in it. he was asking me if the Buick and Pontiac 3.8's were the same . i was like uhhhhh , not sure .

so i guess the easiest way to explain my question is , chevy made a 350 and buick and olds made a 350 ,, they were oviously a little different , does the same apply with the 3.8 ?

Yeah the 3.8 is a corporate engine. The only thing really different would be the computer programming. It's probably a liitle less agressive, especially the shifts.

L36 is the naturally aspirated motor, L67 and L32 are the supercharged motors

ok, what is the difference betwen the L67 and the L32 ... just out of curiosity ... ?

L67 is from the 97-03's, L32 is from 04 and up, the only major difference is the L32 has forged connecting rods and slightly larger exhaust valves on the heads, other than that they are the same and parts are even interchangeable between the motors

L32 is the new GTP motors. Its run in the 04's.

Specifically, I"m not sure, but I know the parts are in high demand.

oh, also the harmonic balancer on the L32 is different, it is supposed to be better and less likely to crack flexplates with this balancer

I know from experience the rear exhaust mani is different on the ultra than on my GS...which has the same rear mani as a GTP.
