3800 Just got an SES light...

I was just driving this morning and I noticed my SES light was on. It was not flashing at all. Just popped on. Everything seems normal under the hood. I am not blameing Charles or anything. But, I just got my DHP PCM on Wednesday night. Is there any reason why maybe the new pcm might set off an ses light? I have noticed though in the past couple weeks, that when I am in drive sitting at a light, i feel a somewhat heavy vibration and i hear a rattling, that kind of sounds like it's coming off the top of the engine. It won't do it if i am in park. Who knows... Thanks

go to autozone or a place like that and have them scan it... the SES could 1 one of hundreds of things... so best to get the code and go from there

Ya I know, that's why when it goes off, I get pissed, cause who knows what it could be.

it should show in the history... but I don't know if the cheapie scan tools autozone uses can pull the history

They don't have the ability to erase anything do they? like reset the PCM to stock features?

correct they can't do that.. only a dealership w/a Tech II would be able to reflash the PCM ... and then only if you asked them to do it or if they had to do it to fix another problem...

Wierd, my autozone pulled up my code from when i had a 160* stat in while it was cold, and then flashed my pcm to see if it would go away...it returned a little later.

I got your message, I sent you a PM.

I couldn't find the code p1665 in the GM Service Information. Anyone else have any suggestions?


edit: Here is an online version of the GM SI. http://134.39.200.6:9001 . It is a little older (abotu a year) than the one I am using, but all the info should be the same.

agh, i went to go get my car scanned and on the way there, the ses light came off. we scanned and no codes were being thrown. so we scanned anyways, agh, KR must be my enemey or something. the logs will be up tonight or tomorrow.

I would guess P0300 for misfires. Probably really on the car and its lean or just old plugs/wires. Will set a code and would clear out if they go away after a few driving cycles. The code should still be in the history though.
