3800 Removing EGR

Whats the proper way to completely remove the EGR system? I heard if you just block that one side off with a plate and a screw, it can leak from other spots or do something to another part of the car...so I want to completely remove it and eliminate any chance of it causing problems in the future.

Any ideas?

The best way is to block off both sides, one at the manifold, one at the header. Then have the EGR codes removed from the computer. ZZP has the piggy back box also to defeat it. If you just block off the header side on the header it won't throw codes, but since you need the tube leading to the egr open, you need to put a little filter on it, since it will be sucking air into the manifold at certain times. This works, but you get fresh unmetered air into the intake that the 02 sensor will recognize, the computer will try to compensate by increasing your long term fuel trims.
