3800 Monte Carlo SS

Anyone know the stats for one? I thought they were same exact as GTP, but someone else told me otherwise. I thought it was a 3.8 series 2 supercharged for the (new model 00-03/4) Monte Carlo. I think they look pretty sweet in the yellow with full tints. Still would greatly prefer my car, but its pretty sharp. Id rather take tht than a regal.

04 supercharged Monte Carlo SS is 240hp 280 tq
04 GTP is 260hp 280tq

They most likely just detuned the PCM , same motor and I'm pretty sure same supercharger

Edit: Hmmm... looking at chevy's site, I click the link for a pic of the motor and the motor cover says series II 3800 and not series III 3800 ... so that must account for the 20hp difference?

04 ss supercharged have the series 3 superchargers on them. its the 1st year for the impala ss and monte ss with superchargers.


prior ot that it was a just 3800 series 3.8L motor.

so before 2004, the monte ss was the same motor as gt? No SC?

Correct, 04 is the first year the Monte Carlo has been offered w/a supercharger

looks like it based on the pics on Chevy's site... Series II 3800 motor... but I don't know about the supercharger (the 04 GTP has a Gen V eaton supercharger, previous had a Gen IV i'm guessing... but not sure about the Monte Carlo)

04 Monte's have the same SC our GTP's have in them.. from my understanding.. well the supercharger from 03 down...

04 impala and Monte SS have a 3800 series 2 s/c engine. our engine. the GTP is currently the only car with the Series 3 s/c engine.

Yeah... i have heard the blower off of a stock 04 and it is almost as loud as the blower on my car with a FWI. I would bet that it just SCREAMS with a FW.
