98 GP GT Turbo build thread!

Hey guys, couple months ago I picked up a 98 GTX clone (n/a) with intentions of top swapping/ built heads/ cam all that. Then all of a sudden it dawned on me.... why not go turbo?

SO I went on a hunt trying to find someone to trade with and a few weeks later I did.

Here are a few pic of the car pre-op.

(GTX hood is gone however)

And now just a few shots of engine cleared, ready for resurfacing/ cleaning and re installation!

Cam install has begun!

L67 heads 105# springs, hardened retainers, Vitton valve seals, Si valves, Ported exhaust side, resurfaced and ready for install

Engine putback will begin this weekend, if anyone is willing to come help you are more than welcome to do so!!!

skip the rollmaster single roller for OEM
when i pulled apart Silva's 04 was stretched to hell with only 15k on it
go with a dbl roller if you can swing the extra coin.

you running a gutted gen5 for your uim? i see an alum l26 uim in the one pic....

looks like a fun build

So the motor has been rebuilt? Get rid of it and grab a low mileage L26 for cheap. Rebuilt 3800's are never a good idea

I'm confused what you are using for the upper and lower

get rid of those 105s and get 130s with a double roller... you don't want to limit yourself because you went with 105s from the start

bored over block? and no, dont get an high comp.. find a s/c motor

it seems like you have a bunch of big power stuff for parts but also using stock stuff that might hold you back?

just not sure what your end goal is with the car

what do you have or have planned for the trans?

U&L will be SIII l26 parts it seems

i worry about that chain, this will cause me to lose sleep, please dont use the single roller even if you went to 90's

id go with an l32/l67 rather than an l26, says the guy on his second l26 this summer

Yeah, l26 is good for high 11's, but it'll always be a ticking time bomb with the rods. Might as well spend the extra $ and get the stronger l32/l67 now.

Don't worry about mileage either, seems all the really big power 3800's are 150,000+ mile motors, and running great. I don't think hk's regal is quite that high, but it's definitely up there.
