Each year, I do at least one "major" road trip to see places and meet family and friends. I hope to do some "weekend voyages" during 2010, but for now, I'm planning these drives....

With going northeast in 2010, that leaves the northwest section of the continental US to which I have yet to travel. So ... sometime in 2011 ... I will drive through Minnesota, the Dakotas and out west, maybe including Idaho, Washington and Oregon.

Longest drive I ever did was Chicago to Alaska through Canada. THAT sucked... especially doing it alone.

Rufus ... not as extreme as my Route 66 jaunt last year .

99 ... depends on which route you took. I usually take I-57 to I-24 to get to TN, to avoid Indy, etc....

WC ... I'd love to do that drive, even alone. All of my road trips are done alone ... which I prefer. All of my stops, then, are to visit friends and family, which make it fun to stop.



* UPDATE *
I'm starting to look at routes to take for this road trip and should be able to post a possible path for the drive sometime soon.


In doing so, I've read about US Route 6 [another route I want to travel the length of ... "someday"] in Pennsylvania. If I have time, I'm thinking of taking one of 3 routes to "touch" US Route 6 across PA from Ohio to Binghamton NY...

After traveling Route 66 (September 2009), I really want to travel other routes, including US Route 6, US Route 20 (which cuts right through my home town), the Lincoln Highway, and others. Heck, I'd love to drive Route 66 again.... But, not enough vacation time right now...dangumit.

** JUNE 25-27, 2010 ... to RICHMOND IN **

I'll leave Thursday evening, June 24, or early Friday morning, June 25 ... to be in Richmond IN by late afternoon/early evening Friday, June 25.


To avoid the major road construction projects on most of the Chicagoland "expressways", I'll take one of these routes:

IL RT 47 S to SR 24 E to I-65 S, then around Indianapolis to I-70 E
...OR...
IL RT 47 S (or I-39 S) to I-74 E into Indianapolis, then around Indianapolis to I-70 E.


I'll be in Richmond IN from Friday afternoon/evening until after lunch on Sunday, returning home Sunday afternoon/evening....


If anyone is interested in meeting up along the way or in Richmond IN, let me know....

I have an opportunity to travel Route 66 (Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California) again this year ... and I may take it. If I do, this August trip would be canceled.

HOWEVER ... right NOW ... I'm STILL geared up to travel to Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia and Pennsylvania....

I will most-likely leave early Friday morning, June 25 ... to be in Richmond late afternoon, where I'll be until after lunch Sunday, June 27, returning home that afternoon/evening.

It was awesome seeing old friends and meeting new ones...and the Monte Carlos weren't bad either! My 1979 Caprice Classic ran just fine the entire trip.

I'm baaaacckkk!! My Nor'Easter Trek road trip was AWESOME ... met up with great people along the way and had a blast. I just don't want to be back home.... Pictures will be posted soon....


Now ... time to plan my 2011 road trip via Route 66 and into the northwest United States.... And, I'm thinking about a mini road trip in mid September and a mini road trip to TN during Thanksgiving weekend....
