It's on the road. It's not very long either; theirs a 16 mile and a 30 mile. If my wife does it then we will be doing the 16 mile. If it's just me then I'll be doing the 30.

Ordering my MTB Friday. The sizing on these is goofy. They say I look best on a 21 but the top tube is way to close to my nuts so I'm going to go back and try a 19 again.

I am pretty tall. They said if i go too short my shoulders and back may hurt on longer rides. Specialized rockhopper, Hardtail. I plan on riding local bike paths and hitting up some trails in the area.

I'd say a 19 would be good then. You "should" have a larger frame but if you do any jumping (even bunny hops) you'll want the ball clearance.

My mtb is just like a big wheel bmx. It's fun.

Off path? Is it dirt or paved? Are their any good dirt trails at busse woods? I think I've ridden it 1 time and it was long ago

It's a paved path that is I think 1.5-2 miles long to get to the main loop. The path ends by the hospital. And speaking of which if you do take that path, there is a dirt path that will take you up suicide hill, brakes are highly recomended when riding down (though I've done it twice without braking). Great view at the top, you can see the sears tower on nice days. Dirt paths around the loop, hmmm it's been a few years since I've taken any as I don't have a mtb, Im either on my bmx bike(which I'm out of shape for on long faster paced rides) or my dads ten speed which doesn't leave the road. I know there are quite a few but don't know what's good and where they are exactly at besides the suicide hill path which is hard to miss as the Forrest preserve has a truck path for when they need to get back there or an ambulance.

you know anything about disc brakes and how to convert a rim braked bike to them? I need more stopping power, due to my size and how fast i can get my bike going.

Most likely your bike didn't come with disk brake tabs so it would be nearly impossible.

I'll have to check into that only problem is lack of money and ambition to get out and ride, granted if I had something like that I probably would get out more often.

what if i get one of those generators that power the light from the wheel? Wouldn't that be like regenerative braking on hybrid car?

You could swap out the fork but you'd also need a disk brake hub or wheel.


I'd say upgrade your pads and clean your rims. I assume you have V brakes poops?

Yeah, just v brakes. It's not a bid deal. I tightened up the brakes and everything is fine for now.
